Can you provide a
happy home?

Making a healthy choice...

Our primary concern at Petcetera is the health and well being of all animals. Because most the animals at the shelter arrive from unknown backgrounds, they are all examined for obvious health problems.
When making a choice, interact with the animal and look for the following:
  • alertness and activeness
  • clear, bright eyes
  • smooth and pain-free gait (movement)
  • a full coat, without lumps or patches
  • easy breathing, no coughing or gagging

It's in your hands...

Adoption may be one of the best ways to get a cat, dog or small animal but there are still many things to bear in mind. Carefully consider the following before deciding if you are really ready to "embrace-a-pet":

Are you planning a move?

It's often difficult to find rentals that allow pets. Plus, frequent moving and travel may be unsettling to an animal.

Can you afford to care for the pet?

More than food, you may need to pay for medical bills, annual shots, licensing, etc. all of which are the responsibility of the pet owner.

Do you have the time for a pet?

Long work hours, and frequent trips may not leave you enough time to train, walk and groom your pet.

Will a pet fit into your living environment?

Having children, living in a small a apartment, not having a fenced yard, living on a busy street-these are all things that will factor in your decision of whether to buy a pet and what kind of pet to buy.

Because our staff is looking out for the best interests of the animals, we reserve the right to refuse adoption when the animal's welfare may be at stake. But once the animal has left our store, it's health is in your hands. By carefully examining your choice, you can save yourself and the animal from complications in the future.

Part of the family...

Whether it's you, the animals we sell, or the cats, dogs or small animals at our Adoption Centres, all our customers are part of the family. Like you, we care about animals, and we want them to be as happy as you with the service they receive at our stores.

That's why it is important to us to work with the local non profit organization and help the large number of loving animals who were not wanted by their previous owners find new homes.

That's why we chose not to sell cats, dogs or exotic pets in our stores-because there are so many wonderful animals put to sleep each day simply because their family could not include them in their lifestyles.

So if you are looking for a new family member, please come down to Petcetera's in-store P.A.W.S. Adoption Centre. There's always lots of animals to choose from: different breeds, ages and personalities. You can help us help you find the pet you've always wanted!

A lifelong friend...

Just as with having a child or new family member, having a dog, cat or small animal requires a lifelong commitment on your part. The majority of animals are given up for the reason that they no longer "fit in" with their owners' lifestyle.

You'll be as much a friend to a cat or dog as it will to you. Just remember, a pet does require your attention, time exercise, care (i.e. grooming, shots, etc.) and a whole lot of love!

A dog or cat can be a friend for life, so love your pet, and it will love you!
